Happy Monday

A GREAT DAY AT FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH-MONDAY
Today is President’s Day.  The church office opened at 8:00 a. m.  Church staff meeting began at 8:30 a. m.  We are blessed to have Tommy Johnston representing our church family at the Baptist General Convention of Texas Board Meeting for the next few days.  Caleb Phillips is “hanging out” with the middle school students at the ROC.
Last Saturday evening, there were over 200 people at the Upward Basketball Ceremony and later the Fifth Grade Bash had over 160 fifth graders attending from all over Hopkins County.  Both events were reaching out to many different families.  A word of thanks and appreciation to all of the schools that encouraged the fifth graders to attend.
Wednesday night (2/20) Dr. Kent Pate will be here to lead the Bible Study in RECHARGE.  RECHARGE begins at 6:15 p. m. in room 109.  The church family menu is: chicken strips; gravy; mac & cheese; buttered steamed broccoli; salad; roll; drink & dessert.
Next Sunday evening (2/24) the Rehoboth Baptist Association will hold the annual Evangelism Rally beginning at 6:00 p. m. in the FBC Worship Center.  Our own FBC Worship Choir led by Tom Fineout will be leading the worship service.
SAY YES to the Floral Ministry.  The church family needs help arranging the altar flowers on Monday once a month, to take to those in the hospital, nursing homes, and our homebound.  Contact the church office for more information and for signing up to volunteer.
Two big trips will be taken by FBC family or anyone that would like to go with us.  In October we will be taking a big trip to Boston and the north eastern part of the United States for a fall color trip.  It will include the history of Boston, two nights in Bar Harbor and a special visit to the first Baptist church established in America at Providence, Rhode Island.  Please text me or call the church office to get a trip brochure.  Another big trip will be in July, 2020 to the Passion Play in Oberammergau, Germany.  There are brochures available in the church office or texting me.  The Passion Play in Oberammergau was begun in 1630 and it is done every 10 years.
It’s cold outside, but when you go somewhere give a smile and a positive word of encouragement to someone.  People need love and encouragement.  A beautiful smile changes the world around you.
Have a great day in your neighborhood!   Fred W. Lewis
