Dr.  Jeff Gravens

Jeff Gravens has followed Jesus Christ since he came to faith as college freshman. He was born in Ft. Knox, Kentucky but traveled the world while growing up in a military family.  Experiencing the power of the local church was the most influential force in his spiritual development. Thus, Jeff has a passion for the church and desires to see it have a powerful impact in the community.

Jeff was called as pastor of First Baptist Crawford, Texas in July 2009. He previously served as associate pastor of Brookview Baptist Church in Waco, Texas. He has also been a staff member of two non-profit Christian ministries committed to community development and urban ministry. Jeff earned a Bachelor’s of Business Administration from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor and a Master’s of Divinity in Theology from George W. Truett Theological Seminary at Baylor University. He also earned the Doctor of Ministry from Truett Seminary. His culminating project was titled, Acts 13:1–3 As Normative Praxis in the Local Baptist Church: A Connection Between Mission and Vocation.

Jeff is an avid reader, runner, and devoted sports fan. He enjoys reading in the areas of theology, ecclesiology, and presidential history. He runs for pleasure and has competed in numerous 5K’s, 10K’s, half marathons, and one marathon. He roots for the Texas Rangers and the Baylor Bears.

Jeff and Katie were married in 2009.  Katie spent 6 months as a missionary in the Horn of Africa, over a decade in Collegiate ministry, and the last 29 years passionately pursuing Jesus.  She has a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Stephen F. Austin State University and a Masters of Divinity from Baylor’s Truett Seminary. Katie’s passion is seeing people come to an understanding of what it truly means to follow Christ, no matter the age.

Jeff and Katie are the parents to a spirited seven-year-old, Abigail and a fun-loving three-year-old, Wesley.
